Beliș-Fântânele Lake is an artificial lake of accumulation from the Gilăului Mountains in Cluj County. It was arranged between 1970-1974 for hydropower purposes, along the Someșul Cald river. In the period 1970-1974 the inhabitants of the old Beliș commune were forced to relocate to the present site of the village. Cătune, such as Million, Pleș, Dădești, Bolojești or Giurcuța de Jos, have disappeared. Only in the very dry summers, when the water level of the lake drops very much, can the ruins of abandoned houses be seen, the most famous being the ruins of the former church in Giurcuța de Jos.
